| Solstice |
| Solstice consists of 37 mixed media panels each 15 in X 15 in which when installed comprise a single work of over 23 feet in length. The title refers to the angular setting of the sun at both the summer and winter solstices and indeed can be read as a calendar divided partly into the four seasons. The piece makes reference to the Continental Divide, lines of latitude, prime numbers, primary colors and the spectral shift of the sun. Autobiographical material permeates the work which is the largest single piece that Peter Deacon has ever produced. |
